The Acceptable Year of the Lord
Karen A. Hamilton
Number of pages: 478
A book for busy preachers who preach the 3-cycle common lectionary texts.
Karen Hamilton presents preaching insights into the meaning of the original Old Testament texts, the meaning they have in the Jewish tradition and their meaning for Christians today.
Hamilton wrote this book to address what she sees as a resource imbalance when it comes to the Old Testament. She includes a reference to each citation in the Revised Common Lectionary.
Readings are cross-related by liturgical calendar, as well as to scripture.
Proceeds realized from the sale of this book will go towards HIV/AIDS relief in Africa.
The Reverend Dr. Karen A. Hamilton is the General Secretary of the Canadian Council of Churches. Her doctorate is in the area of Old Testament and Preaching; she is an experienced ecumenist, public speaker, Bible study leader and interfaith dialogue theologian.
