Have the Courage to be Happy
Number of pages: 80
An optimistic and enthusiastic vision of the Church’s future.
Based on his talks with the youth assembled for World Youth Day in Brazil, and designed as text message conversations, Have the Courage to Be Happy is a handbook for teens and pre-teens.
Themes such as ‘seeing with new eyes’ and ‘your very own rose’ are fully explored with reflections from the Pope, questions to ask oneself, prayers and action items. But most of all, space is left at the end of each chapter for readers to write their own thoughts: giving young people a space of their own to grow.
“May the spirit of World Youth Day live on in your life,” writes Marco Pappalardo. “It’s your turn!”
Pope Francis, formerly Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J., served the Jesuits as novice master, lecturer, provincial, confessor, and spiritual director before Pope John Paul II named him Archbishop of Buenos Aires. He was elected to the papacy on March 13, 2013. He is the first pope from the Americas and the first pope to choose the name Francis, in honor of St. Francis of Assisi.
