For Heaven's Sake, Vote!
In partnership with Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto
For Roman Catholics, being a responsible citizen requires that we participate in civil society. One of the most important ways to do that is to exercise your right to vote. This Fall, Canadians will be asked to choose their next federal government. With this handy guide, Catholics can get a taste for what their own Church says about the key election issues.
Each section looks at one of this year’s hot political subjects and offers relevant quotes from Catholic Social Teaching. These can be from scripture, papal encyclicals, speeches of recent popes, statements from Canadian bishops, or other official Church documents. Taken together, they offer a broad reflection on how our faith can shape the way we vote.
This 32-page booklet is inexpensive enough to be purchased in bulk and distributed to members of your parish. It is also an accessible resource for Catholic high school classes to help discuss the connection between their own faith and politics. Totally non-partisan, this booklet may not tell you who to vote for, but it will help you understand your choices better.
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Toronto provides social services, leadership and advocacy for its 26 member agencies and the people they serve. At its core is Catholic Social Teaching that focuses on the poor and marginalized, urging us all to build a just society and safeguard the dignity of every person.Catholic Charaties
