May 7. Mary, Woman of Faith

Theological meaning

Like Abraham, but in her own way, Mary moves forward without understanding everything. She chooses to trust God’s word. Her faith is a journey, marked by listening and surrender.

In the Bible

“And blessed is she who believed.” (Luke 1.45)

Meditation

Faith is not certainty, and even less a comfortable certainty. It often looks like a step taken in the dark. Mary moves forward, carried by a word she has received. We too pass through shadowed places, facing questions without immediate answers. To believe is to keep walking anyway, leaning on God.

Prayer

Mary, sustain my faith when I do not understand everything.
