May 4. Mary, Servant of the Lord

May 4. Mary, Servant of the Lord

Theological meaning

By her “yes,” Mary makes herself fully available to God’s action. She shows us that true greatness lies less in remarkable deeds than in humble and trusting service.

In the Bible

“Here am I, the servant of the Lord.” (Luke 1.38)

Meditation

To say “yes” to God does not mean we fully understand what we accept. It simply means trusting. Mary accepts a path that surpasses her. Her yes does not stop at the Annunciation: it unfolds throughout her life, in joy as in trial. Today, we too are invited into this openness. Often, it takes the form of a quiet but essential fidelity.

Prayer

Mary, give me an open heart to welcome what is asked of me.
