May 30. Mary, Queen of Heaven

Theological meaning

Mary is entirely immersed in the glorious light of the risen Christ. She reminds us of our call to eternal life.

In the Bible

“Rejoice and be glad.” (Matthew 5.12)

Meditation

Obligations, worries, urgencies: the immediate can easily blur our view of God’s horizon. Mary invites us to lift our eyes higher. She reminds us that our life has a meaning that goes beyond the present, that it is called to open onto the fullness of God. This hope does not take us away from the world: it engages us in it differently, more deeply and with greater freedom.

Mary, lift my heart toward God and open it to hope.
