May 22. Mary, Morning Star

May 22. Mary, Morning Star

Theological meaning

Mary announces the coming of Christ as the dawn announces the day. She sheds light on our dark and uncertain paths by her example of faith.

In the Bible

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” (Isaiah 9.2)

Meditation

Our days sometimes begin in a certain kind of darkness: fatigue, doubt, hard decisions to be made. The presence of Mary is discreet, like that first light that does not yet drive away all darkness but is enough to orient our gaze. With her, we learn to move forward without mastering everything, to trust a light that rises gently and cannot be extinguished.

Prayer

Mary, light my steps when the path seems uncertain.
