Theological meaning

Mary is honoured as a mother attentive to every people of the earth, with their history, their challenges and their hopes. She accompanies the Church living here in Canada, in our culture and daily life.

In the Bible

“Here is your mother.” (John 19.27)

Meditation

Mary is not a distant figure. She is given as a mother to each person, within a real history. She accompanies families, communities, pastors and seekers here. She knows our vulnerabilities as well as our virtues. By welcoming her into our home, as the beloved disciple did, we discover a presence that gathers us and helps us live our faith in our ordinary, everyday life.

Prayer

Our Lady of Canada, watch over our communities and sustain our hope.
