May 15. Our Lady of Lourdes

Theological meaning

Mary reveals herself as a mother attentive to the sick and the poor. She reminds us that God heals sometimes the body, always the heart.

In the Bible

“He heals the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 147.3)

Meditation

We have to admit: we all carry wounds, visible or hidden. At Lourdes, Mary shows that God bends down with tenderness over our fragility. Healing does not always take the form we expect, but it opens a path toward the peace we truly need.
