May 14. Mary, Queen of Peace

Theological meaning

Mary bears within her the peace of Christ and shares it with us, so that we may become peacemakers in our relationships.

In the Bible

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” (John 14.27)

Meditation

Peace is not a passive state. It is certainly not limited to the absence of war or turmoil. It is born from a heart inhabited by God. Mary teaches us to desire this peace, to receive it and to pass it on. In our words and our actions, we can either soothe or divide. So today, let us choose gentleness, listening and patience!
